Please Tell Me...

For most of my life people have told me, "You have such a beautiful voice..." Yeah, yeah, blah, blah, so what. Please tell me how my music has HELPED you or your family spritually, blessed you, brought you closer to God, etc. For I know that only what we do for God will last. Please post your comments here.

I am commenting after having read the latest post about your children. I have to say that as the children get older I am falling into the old routine of "me-me" first and my interests.
I notice that when I spend more time listening to secular music it becomes that much easier to behave that way. When I return to Christian music, and yours especially, I become focused again on what is important and what is REAL. We popped the Divine Mercy CD on the way to Mass last weekend and it was an awesome preperation for the mass! Thank you for sharing your gift with us!

Hi Donna

As a former Protestant, on my way to joining the one, holy, Catholic and apostolic Church of Christ, your recording of the Divine Mercy Chaplet has been a wonderful blessing to me.

About two years ago, I began listening to the local EWTN affiliate - if only to mock and laugh at the "absurd" beliefs and doctrines of Catholics - and slowly, but surely, my heart was softened.

One afternoon as I was doing laundry I caught your recording of the Divine Mercy Chaplet on the radio and I bought the recording that day.

I've not started praying the chaplet just yet - I want to "master" the rosary first and understand the prayers of the DMC first - but I often listen to the cd. The chaplet and other songs are simply wonderful. I am often reduced to tears at the very thought of His mercy.

I think your music - particularly the accompanying songs on the DM cd - could be a wonderful bridge to reach out to Protestants.

Before I heard you sing the Divine Mercy Chaplet I knew nothing of the prayer or the story behind it. It has now become a daily prayer for me and I have read St. Faustina's diary twice - all thanks to you.

I also have to say it is very inspiring to know that someone of your talent has dedicated herself to the Lord when it could have been so easy to follow a secular career. People like you truely make a difference.

This may sound extremely weird, but: my wife needs to wake up "gently" (to music, usually, from our CD alarm--as opposed to the "squawking" alarms), but most songs--after waking up to them for a few dozen days in a row--became so exasperatingly "entrenched" in my mind that I couldn't stand the sound of them. Oddly enough, your CD ("Great Saints") is the only one which I can hear innumerable times, and not be tired of it! Heavens, it must be going on 3 years, now (1/day * 365 days * 3 years = 1095 repetitions!)...

I really had to laugh, though, when you said: For most of my life people have told me, "You have such a beautiful voice..." Yeah, yeah, blah, blah, so what. :) Lots of people (usually sweet little old ladies at the local parish) would "gush" about my "beautiful singing, voice, etc." (with my all-time least favourite comment: "I just stop singing and listen to you, during Mass..." *ARGH!*) Thank you for being such a clear example of "right priorities" (e.g. God first, "aesthetic jollies" way after that)!

You've also benefited innumerable souls in Purgatory, since (through your music) you're the first to empower me to memorize the prayer from St. Gertrude... :)
