Sick again!

We all got the flu, including me, and functionality around here became nil. It's been 2 weeks and we're all still coughing this deep cough that won't go away. (Maybe if I could get anywhere near a decent night's sleep I might recover. I seriously need a nanny. It's funny. I got an email from someone who remembered that my performance contract requires that my boarding situation not include any children under 12 because I could get sick, as has happened in the past. And now look at me - 4 kids of my own and I'm always sick!! Irony. (I've got all the herbs that keep you from developing a virus, but they make my baby really sick, so I can't take them. So much for health food.)

We had that horrible cough thing here too... it took homeopathic Spongia Tosta to get rid of it here... but my oldest still has a slight tickle type cough at night -- and it's been at least four weeks now. *sigh* I'll pray for you guys - it's so hard when the whole family is sick!

There are some social implications to this remedy, but: believe it or not, raw garlic is a potent antibiotic/antiviral (it was used to treat infected wounds in World War I, if memory serves). It's easiest on your tongue if you crush it and swallow it with a quick swallow of water (it's really *hot*, otherwise... though that can actually help a sore throat, ironically). I was sick for the better part of 6 months, and 3 days of raw garlic (about 3-4 times/day) knocked it out of my system...

...of course, it also kept away those who would've re-infected me. :)

Brilliant!!
I've taken raw garlic before and it works, but eating it was such a chore. Pressing it first has made all the difference. Thanks so much for the tip. It's been 2 1/2 days and I'm almost well.

:) You're very welcome... and I'm glad it helped! But credit where it's due:

Karen Hurd is a "local" nutritionist (with a near-worldwide patient/client base, now) with a fascinating story--she started out as a biochem/weapons specialist, and a summa cum laude Captain in the U.S. Army, when a negligent poisoning [by bug exterminators] left her daughter fighting for her life! She [Karen] was the one who steered me toward garlic for the first time...

God bless your recovery (and the recovery of the rest of your family)!
